Description

Tender, juicy steak seared to perfection in a skillet and basted with a delicious garlic-herb butter for maximum flavor. This quick and easy Butter-Basted Garlic Herb Skillet Steak is perfect for a weeknight dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

– 2 (8 oz) ribeye steaks, room temperature

– 2 tbsp unsalted butter

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– 2 tsp fresh thyme, chopped

– 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped

– 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt

– 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

1. 1. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.

2. 2. In a large cast-iron or stainless steel skillet, melt the butter over high heat. Add the garlic, thyme, and rosemary and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

3. 3. Add the steaks and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, basting the tops with the garlic-herb butter frequently, until a nice crust forms and the steaks reach your desired doneness.

4. 4. Transfer the steaks to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice against the grain and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature steaks and a very hot skillet to achieve a nice sear. Adjust cooking time based on thickness of steaks and desired level of doneness. Feel free to experiment with different herb combinations.
