Description

Indulge in the rich, creamy goodness of this authentic Traditional Tres Leches Cake. This melt-in-your-mouth dessert is made with a spongy vanilla cake soaked in a decadent three-milk mixture, creating a truly unforgettable treat.

Ingredients

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 5 large eggs, separated

– 3/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

– 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk

– 1 cup whole milk

– 1 cup heavy cream, whipped

– Ground cinnamon for dusting

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. 3. In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks and 1/2 cup of the sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla.

4. 4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks. Gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.

5. 5. Gently fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture. Then fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.

6. 6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. 7. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan, then use a fork to poke holes all over the top.

8. 8. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, making sure to evenly distribute it.

9. 9. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours, or until the milk mixture has been completely absorbed.

10. 10. Top the cake with whipped cream and dust with ground cinnamon before serving.

Notes

For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle the cake with caramel or dulce de leche sauce. You can also add a sprinkle of toasted coconut or chopped nuts.
