Description

These classic Thanksgiving Mashed Potatoes are the perfect, creamy side dish to complement your holiday feast. Fluffy, buttery, and packed with flavor, they’re sure to be a crowd-pleasing favorite.

Ingredients

– 5 pounds Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 cup whole milk, warmed

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

– 2 tablespoons fresh chopped chives (for garnish)

Instructions

1. – Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat.

2. – Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are fork-tender.

3. – Drain the potatoes and return them to the hot pot for 1-2 minutes to evaporate any remaining moisture.

4. – Add the softened butter and mash the potatoes using a potato masher or ricer until smooth and creamy.

5. – Gradually pour in the warmed milk, mashing and stirring continuously until fully incorporated and the potatoes are light and fluffy.

6. – Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.

7. – Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and garnish with the fresh chopped chives.

8. – Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

– For extra richness, use half-and-half or heavy cream instead of milk.

– Experiment with different herbs and seasonings to customize the flavor.

– Leftover mashed potatoes can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
