Ingredients
– 1 lb ground beef
– 4 slices sourdough bread
– 2 tbsp tallow
– 4 slices cheddar cheese
– 2 tbsp mayonnaise
– 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
– Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. 1. Form the ground beef into four equal-sized patties.
2. 2. In a large skillet, heat the tallow over medium-high heat.
3. 3. Cook the beef patties for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
4. 4. Toast the sourdough bread slices until golden brown.
5. 5. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each toast slice and mustard on the other.
6. 6. Place a beef patty on the mustard-side of two of the toast slices, then top with a slice of cheese.
7. 7. Close the sandwiches with the remaining toast slices.
8. 8. Cook the sandwiches in the hot tallow for 2-3 minutes per side, until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.
9. 9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
