Ingredients
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 2 teaspoons baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
– 1/2 cup cold milk
– 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
– 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
1. – Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. – In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar.
3. – Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the cold milk until just combined.
4. – On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a 12×8-inch rectangle.
5. – In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
6. – Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Top with the sliced strawberries.
7. – Carefully roll up the dough, starting from the short side, to create a tight spiral. Slice into 12 equal pieces.
8. – Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
9. – Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
10. – Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For best results, use fresh, ripe strawberries. You can also try other fruit variations, such as blueberries or raspberries. Store any leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
