Description

Experience the delightful flavors of Steamed Whole Fish with Ginger, a simple yet elegant main course that delivers on both taste and nutrition. This recipe features a tender, flaky whole fish infused with the warmth and zing of fresh ginger, creating a harmonious balance of textures and aromas.

Ingredients

– 1 whole fish (e.g., sea bass, snapper, or tilapia), cleaned and scaled

– 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and julienned

– 3 scallions, sliced into 2-inch pieces

– 2 tablespoons soy sauce

– 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

– 1 teaspoon sesame oil

– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. 1. Rinse the whole fish under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.

2. 2. Make several shallow diagonal cuts on both sides of the fish.

3. 3. Place the fish in a heatproof steaming dish or plate.

4. 4. Arrange the julienned ginger and sliced scallions on top of the fish.

5. 5. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Pour this mixture over the fish.

6. 6. Season the fish with salt and pepper to taste.

7. 7. Set the steaming dish in a steamer basket and steam the fish for 12-15 minutes, or until the flesh flakes easily with a fork.

8. 8. Carefully transfer the steamed fish to a serving platter. Serve hot, garnished with additional scallions and ginger if desired.

Notes

For best results, use a fresh, high-quality whole fish. You can adjust the steaming time based on the size of the fish. Experiment with different types of fish or add extra vegetables, such as sliced mushrooms or bell peppers, to the steaming dish.
