Description

Indulge in the rich, velvety texture and spicy-sweet flavors of this Spicy Mexican Chocolate Silk Pie. A decadent twist on a classic dessert, this recipe combines the luxurious smoothness of chocolate silk pie with a delightful kick of heat from cinnamon and chili powder.

Ingredients

– 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped

– 1 cup heavy cream

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 2 large eggs

– 1 tsp ground cinnamon

– 1/2 tsp chili powder

– 1 pre-baked 9-inch pie crust

Instructions

1. – In a medium saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

2. – Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chopped dark chocolate. Let the chocolate sit for 2-3 minutes, then whisk until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

3. – In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. – Slowly pour the egg mixture into the chocolate mixture, whisking constantly, until fully incorporated.

5. – Stir in the cinnamon and chili powder until evenly distributed.

6. – Pour the chocolate filling into the pre-baked pie crust and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.

7. – Serve chilled, with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, if desired.

Notes

For a spicier version, increase the amount of chili powder to 1 teaspoon. The pie can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
