Description
Slow Cooker Beef Gyros are a comforting and flavor-packed meal, featuring tender, juicy beef slow-cooked to perfection and served on warm pita bread with cool, creamy tzatziki sauce.
Ingredients
– 2 lbs beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes
– 1 onion, diced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tbsp dried oregano
– 1 tsp ground cumin
– 1 tsp paprika
– 1 tsp salt
– 1/2 tsp black pepper
– 1 cup beef broth
– 8 pita breads
– 1 cup tzatziki sauce
– Diced tomatoes, sliced onions, and fresh parsley for serving
Instructions
1. – Place the beef, onion, garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper in a slow cooker. Pour the beef broth over the top.
2. – Cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is very tender.
3. – Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred or chop it into smaller pieces.
4. – Warm the pita breads according to package instructions.
5. – To serve, place the shredded beef on the pita breads and top with tzatziki sauce, diced tomatoes, sliced onions, and fresh parsley.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the slow cooker. The slow-cooked beef can also be used in other dishes, such as tacos or bowls.
