Description

This Skillet Turkey Chili is a quick and easy weeknight dinner that’s packed with flavor. Made with lean ground turkey, simmered in a blend of spices, and topped with your favorite toppings, it’s a comforting and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground turkey

– 1 onion, diced

– 1 bell pepper, diced

– 3 garlic cloves, minced

– 2 tbsp chili powder

– 1 tsp cumin

– 1 tsp oregano

– 1 tsp salt

– 1/2 tsp black pepper

– 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes

– 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

– 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed

– 1 cup beef or chicken broth

– Toppings: shredded cheese, diced avocado, sour cream, chopped cilantro

Instructions

1. – In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground turkey, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

2. – Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until softened.

3. – Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

4. – Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

5. – Pour in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and broth. Stir to combine.

6. – Bring the chili to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have melded and the chili has thickened.

7. – Serve the Skillet Turkey Chili hot, topped with your desired toppings.

Notes

– For a spicier chili, add 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper.

– Substitute ground beef or ground chicken for the turkey if desired.

– Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
