Description

Ingredients

For the Turkey:

  • ? 1 whole turkey (12-14 lbs), thawed if frozen
  • ? 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ? 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • ? 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • ? 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • ? 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ? Salt and pepper to taste
  • ? 1 lemon, halved
  • ? 1 onion, quartered

For the Gravy (optional):

  • ? 2 cups turkey or chicken broth
  • ? 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • ? Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

2️⃣ Prepare Herb Butter:
In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, chopped rosemary, thyme, sage, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined. ??

3️⃣ Prepare the Turkey:
Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels. Gently loosen the skin over the turkey breast and thighs using your fingers.

4️⃣ Apply Herb Butter:
Spread half of the herb butter mixture under the skin, directly onto the meat. Rub the remaining butter all over the outside of the turkey.

5️⃣ Season the Turkey:
Season the turkey cavity with salt and pepper. Stuff it with the halved lemon and quartered onion.

6️⃣ Roast the Turkey:
Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the breast and thigh. Baste the turkey every 30-45 minutes with the pan juices.

7️⃣ Rest the Turkey:
Once done, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving.

8️⃣ Make Gravy (optional):
To make gravy, strain the drippings from the roasting pan into a saucepan. Whisk in flour and cook until thickened, adding broth as needed. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

9️⃣ Serve:
