Indulge in the ultimate buttery, flaky croissant filled with a rich, creamy pistachio cream. These Pistachio Cream Croissants are a traditional French delight that you can easily make at home in just 10 minutes.
Ingredients
– 1 cup (120g) shelled pistachios
– 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
– 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 package (17.3oz/490g) frozen puff pastry, thawed
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. 2. In a food processor, blend the pistachios until they form a fine powder. Transfer to a medium bowl and mix in the softened butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
3. 3. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets and cut each sheet into 4 equal rectangles, creating 8 rectangles total.
4. 4. Spread 2-3 tablespoons of the pistachio cream onto the center of each rectangle, leaving a 1-inch border.
5. 5. Fold the long sides of the rectangle over the filling, then fold the short sides over to create a neat package.
6. 6. Place the filled croissants seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
7. 7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and flaky.
8. 8. Allow the Pistachio Cream Croissants to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra richness, brush the croissants with melted butter before baking. You can also experiment with different nut fillings, such as almond or hazelnut, if desired.
