Description

Savor the taste of summer all year round with this easy homemade peach preserves recipe. Bursting with juicy peach flavor, these preserves are perfect for spreading on toast, using in baking, or enjoying straight from the jar.

Ingredients

– 3 lbs ripe peaches, peeled and chopped

– 2 cups white sugar

– 1/4 cup lemon juice

Instructions

1. – In a large saucepan, combine the chopped peaches and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.

2. – Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, continuing to stir, for 30-40 minutes or until the preserves have thickened to your desired consistency.

3. – Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice.

4. – Carefully ladle the hot preserves into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Wipe rims and seal lids.

5. – Process the sealed jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

6. – Remove jars and allow to cool completely before storing. Refrigerate after opening.

Notes

For a chunkier preserve, mash some of the peaches before cooking. You can also add a dash of vanilla extract or cinnamon for extra flavor. These preserves will keep for up to 1 year in a cool, dark place.
