Ingredients

– 1 loaf of day-old bread, cubed

– 8 large eggs

– 2 cups of whole milk

– 1 cup of heavy cream

– 1/2 cup of granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

– 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

1. – Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

2. – Arrange the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish.

3. – In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.

4. – Pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all the pieces are evenly coated.

5. – Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours.

6. – Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

7. – Remove the plastic wrap and bake the casserole for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

8. – Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

9. – Serve warm, with a dusting of powdered sugar and your desired toppings, such as fresh berries or maple syrup.

Notes

– For a creamier texture, use day-old brioche or challah bread.

– Customize the flavors by adding chopped nuts, dried fruit, or a splash of orange juice.

– Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
