Description

Discover the delightful fusion of earthy matcha and traditional Irish soda bread in this easy, homemade recipe. Enjoy the vibrant green crumb and tender texture of this unique treat.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 2 tablespoons white sugar

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1 teaspoon baking soda

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 2 tablespoons matcha powder

– 1 1/4 cups buttermilk

Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.

2. – In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and matcha powder.

3. – Pour in the buttermilk and stir just until a shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix.

4. – Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times to bring it together.

5. – Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet.

6. – Use a sharp knife to score an X shape on the top of the loaf.

7. – Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8. – Allow the bread to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a more intense matcha flavor, increase the matcha powder to 3 tablespoons. Serve the Matcha Irish Soda Bread warm, either on its own or with a pat of butter.
