Description

Indulge in the heavenly flavors of the classic Italian Muffuletta Sandwich – a New Orleans favorite featuring layers of savory cured meats, melted provolone cheese, and a tangy olive salad, all nestled between soft, crusty bread.

Ingredients

– 1 round Italian or French bread loaf, halved horizontally

– 4 oz thinly sliced genoa salami

– 4 oz thinly sliced capicola or prosciutto

– 4 oz thinly sliced mortadella

– 4 oz thinly sliced provolone cheese

– 1 cup olive salad (a mixture of olives, roasted red peppers, celery, oregano, and olive oil)

Instructions

1. – Spread the olive salad evenly over the bottom half of the bread.

2. – Layer the salami, capicola, mortadella, and provolone cheese on top of the olive salad.

3. – Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich.

4. – Slice the sandwich into wedges and serve.

Notes

For best results, let the sandwich sit for 30 minutes to an hour to allow the flavors to meld together. You can also toast the bread lightly before assembling the sandwich.
