Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 2 large eggs

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup milk

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch round baking pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. 3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

4. 4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.

5. 5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, mixing just until incorporated.

6. 6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

7. 7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8. 8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

9. 9. Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar before serving.
