This homemade chili recipe is a cozy and comforting dish that’s perfect for a chilly day. Packed with tender chunks of beef, beans, and a blend of savory spices, this chili comes together quickly and is sure to satisfy your cravings.

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 onion, diced

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– 2 tablespoons chili powder

– 1 tablespoon cumin

– 1 teaspoon oregano

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

– 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes

– 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

– 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed

– 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

1. – In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes.

2. – Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the onion is translucent.

3. – Stir in the chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.

4. – Pour in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chili has thickened.

5. – Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

6. – Serve the homemade chili hot, with desired toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions.

Notes

– For a spicier chili, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.

– Substitute ground turkey or plant-based ground meat for a lighter or vegetarian option.

– Leftover chili can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
