Description
A tender, juicy prime rib roast with a flavorful herb crust, perfect for special occasions or holiday gatherings. This roast is cooked to perfection with a crispy outer crust and a melt-in-your-mouth center.
Ingredients
- ? 4-5 lb prime rib roast (bone-in or boneless)
- ? 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ? 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ? 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- ? 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- ? 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- ? 2 teaspoons salt
- ? 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ? 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- ? 1 cup red wine (for deglazing, optional)
- ? 2 cups beef broth (for serving, optional)
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
2️⃣ Prepare Herb Mixture:
In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, thyme, parsley, salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard until well combined. ??
3️⃣ Prepare the Roast:
Place the prime rib roast in a roasting pan. Use a sharp knife to score the fat cap lightly, being careful not to cut into the meat.
4️⃣ Apply Herb Crust:
Rub the herb mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring it’s evenly coated on all sides.
5️⃣ Roast the Prime Rib:
Place the roasting pan in the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare (adjust time based on desired doneness). ??
6️⃣ Rest the Roast:
Once cooked, remove the prime rib from the oven and tent it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
7️⃣ Make Gravy (Optional):
If desired, place the roasting pan on the stovetop over medium heat. Add red wine to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits. Add beef broth and simmer until reduced. Strain if desired.
8️⃣ Serve:
Slice the prime rib and serve with the gravy on the side. Enjoy your herb-crusted prime rib roast! ?️?
