Description

Indulge in the irresistible flavors of this quick and easy Ground Turkey Orzo bake. Tender ground turkey, fluffy orzo pasta, and a creamy tomato-based sauce come together in this satisfying one-pan meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground turkey

– 1 onion, diced

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

– 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta

– 1 tsp dried oregano

– 1 tsp dried basil

– 1/2 tsp salt

– 1/4 tsp black pepper

– 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)

– Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. 1. In a large skillet, cook the ground turkey over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.

2. 2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is translucent.

3. 3. Stir in the tomato sauce, uncooked orzo, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

4. 4. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the orzo cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender.

5. 5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese.

6. 6. Serve the Ground Turkey Orzo immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

This dish can be easily customized by adding your favorite vegetables, such as diced bell peppers or spinach. For extra creaminess, you can stir in a few tablespoons of cream cheese or heavy cream at the end. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
