Description

Savor the classic flavors of French onion soup in this quick and easy 30-minute French Onion Chicken recipe. Tender chicken breasts are smothered in a rich, caramelized onion sauce for a comforting and delicious meal.

Ingredients

– 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 3 large onions, thinly sliced

– 2 garlic cloves, minced

– 1 cup beef broth

– 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

– 1 teaspoon dried thyme

– Salt and pepper to taste

– Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. 1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.

2. 2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

3. 3. Reduce the heat to medium and add the sliced onions to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, or until the onions are caramelized and softened.

4. 4. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

5. 5. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and stir in the dried thyme. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

6. 6. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the onion sauce over the top. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

7. 7. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a combination of beef and chicken broth. You can also add a splash of dry white wine or sherry to the sauce. Serve the French Onion Chicken over mashed potatoes, rice, or with a side of roasted vegetables.
