Description

Indulge in a family-style twist on classic sloppy joes with our savory and cheesy French Onion Beef Sloppy Joes. This quick and easy recipe is packed with flavor and perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 large onion, diced

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 cup beef broth

– 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

– 1 tsp dried thyme

– 1 tsp dried oregano

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese

– 4 hamburger buns, toasted

Instructions

1. 1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbled, 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

2. 2. Add the diced onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the onion is softened.

3. 3. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in the thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.

4. 4. Divide the sloppy joe mixture evenly onto the toasted buns. Top each sandwich with a slice of cheese.

5. 5. Serve immediately, allowing the cheese to melt over the hot sloppy joe filling.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste. You can also use cheddar or American cheese instead of provolone or Swiss. For a richer flavor, try caramelizing the onions before adding them to the beef mixture.
