Description
These Floral Pressed Sugar Cookies are a delightful and delicate treat, featuring a soft, crumbly texture and a beautiful floral pattern pressed into the surface. They’re perfect for any occasion, from tea parties to holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
– 1 egg
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– Assorted edible flowers (such as rose petals, lavender, or calendula)
Instructions
1. 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
2. 2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla until well combined.
3. 3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until a dough forms. Divide the dough in half, shape each half into a disk, and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
4. 4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
5. 5. Working with one disk at a time, roll the dough out to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Press the edible flowers into the dough, creating a floral pattern.
6. 6. Use a 2-inch round cookie cutter to cut out the cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
7. 7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden on the edges. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a more intense floral flavor, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of rose water or 1/4 teaspoon of lavender extract to the dough. Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
