Description

Indulge in the warm, comforting flavors of fall with these delectable Fall Scones. Bursting with aromatic spices and a tender, crumbly texture, these scones are the perfect treat for a cozy morning, afternoon snack, or anytime you crave a taste of autumn.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

– 3/4 cup cold heavy cream, plus more for brushing

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. – Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. – In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

3. – Add the chilled butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or two forks to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. – Pour in the heavy cream and vanilla extract and stir just until a shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix.

5. – Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together.

6. – Pat the dough into a 3/4-inch thick round. Use a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter to cut out the scones, pressing straight down without twisting.

7. – Arrange the scones on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Brush the tops with a bit of heavy cream.

8. – Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown on top.

9. – Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

For a sweeter scone, you can increase the sugar to 1/3 cup. You can also add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to the dough for extra texture and flavor.
