Description
Indulge in the rich, fudgy goodness of Chocolate Salami – a decadent, no-bake Italian dessert that’s easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion. This recipe combines dark chocolate, butter, and eggs to create a luscious, salami-like treat that’s dusted with cocoa powder for an authentic, homemade touch.
Ingredients
– 8 oz (225g) dark chocolate, chopped
– 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
– 3 large eggs
– 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup (35g) all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting
Instructions
1. 1. In a double boiler or heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, melt the chopped dark chocolate and butter, stirring occasionally until smooth and combined.
2. 2. Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly.
3. 3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. 4. Gently fold the egg mixture into the cooled chocolate mixture until well combined.
5. 5. Sift in the flour and cocoa powder, and fold until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
6. 6. Transfer the chocolate mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Shape it into a log, about 8 inches long and 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
7. 7. Wrap the log tightly in the plastic wrap or parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
8. 8. Remove the Chocolate Salami from the refrigerator and unwrap. Dust the surface generously with cocoa powder.
9. 9. Using a sharp knife, slice the Chocolate Salami into 1/2-inch thick rounds and serve.
Notes
– For a richer flavor, use a higher percentage of dark chocolate (70-85% cocoa solids).
– Experiment with different types of chocolate, such as milk chocolate or white chocolate, for a unique twist.
– Try adding chopped nuts, dried fruit, or a splash of liqueur for additional flavor.
– Store the Chocolate Salami in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
