Description

Experience the iconic flavors of Chicago-style deep dish pizza in the comfort of your own home, baked to perfection in a cast iron skillet for a quick and easy homemade treat.

Ingredients

– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

– 1 cup warm water

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

– Pinch of dried oregano

– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. – In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Add the warm water and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms.

2. – Press the dough into a well-greased cast iron skillet, pressing it up the sides to create a deep-dish crust.

3. – Pour the crushed tomatoes over the dough, then sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and a pinch of oregano on top.

4. – Bake at 400°F for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

5. – Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a more authentic Chicago-style flavor, add thinly sliced pepperoni or Italian sausage to the toppings. You can also experiment with different cheeses, such as provolone or Parmesan, for a unique twist.
