Ingredients
– Orange peels, removed in strips with a vegetable peeler
– Granulated sugar
– Water
Instructions
1. – Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the orange peels. Boil for 10 minutes to soften.
2. – Drain the peels and return them to the pot. Add an equal amount of sugar and water, about 1 cup each.
3. – Simmer the peels in the sugar-water mixture for 45-60 minutes, until the peels are translucent and the liquid has thickened.
4. – Remove the peels from the liquid and roll them in extra granulated sugar to coat.
5. – Spread the coated peels on a baking sheet and let dry completely, about 2 hours.
6. – Store the candied orange peels in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
