Description

Indulge in the savory goodness of these homemade British Meat Pies, with a flaky, golden-brown pastry crust and a rich, hearty filling. Perfect for a comforting meal or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 onion, diced

– 2 carrots, peeled and diced

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 tsp dried thyme

– 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

– 1 cup beef broth

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 1 package puff pastry, thawed

– 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

1. – Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. – In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes.

3. – Add the diced onion and carrots to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

4. – Stir in the minced garlic, dried thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. – Simmer the filling for 10-15 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced and the filling is thickened.

6. – On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6-8 circles or squares, depending on the size you prefer.

7. – Place the pastry circles or squares into a greased muffin tin or on a baking sheet.

8. – Spoon the beef filling into the pastry shells, being careful not to overfill.

9. – Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.

10. – Bake the British Meat Pies for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and flaky.

11. – Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For a flakier crust, you can use a homemade puff pastry recipe instead of store-bought. You can also experiment with different fillings, such as adding peas, potatoes, or different herbs and spices to suit your taste.
