Description

Discover the authentic, mouthwatering taste of Bánh Tiêu – beloved Vietnamese donuts with a crispy exterior and soft, pillowy interior. These scrumptious treats are easy to make at home in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

– 1/4 cup white sugar

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup warm milk

– 2 large eggs

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

– Vegetable oil for frying

– Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. – In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

2. – Add the warm milk, eggs, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.

3. – Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.

4. – Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.

5. – Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven to 350°F.

6. – Fry the dough balls in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

7. – Drain the fried donuts on a paper towel-lined plate and dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm.

8. – Serve the Bánh Tiêu (Vietnamese Donuts!) warm and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use a neutral-flavored oil like vegetable or canola oil for frying. The donuts are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
