Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup brown sugar
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1/2 cup apple cider
– 1 large egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
for the glaze:
– 2 cups powdered sugar
– 1/4 cup maple syrup
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 2-3 tablespoons milk or cream
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a doughnut baking pan and set aside.
2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
3. 3. In a separate bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, apple cider, egg, and vanilla. Mix well.
4. 4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
5. 5. Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
6. 6. Bake for 12-14 minutes, until the doughnuts are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. 7. Allow the doughnuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
8. 8. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Gradually add the milk or cream, stirring until the glaze reaches a smooth, pourable consistency.
9. 9. Dip the tops of the cooled doughnuts into the cinnamon maple glaze, allowing any excess to drip off.
10. 10. Place the glazed doughnuts back on the wire rack and let the glaze set, about 10-15 minutes.
11. 11. Serve the baked apple cider doughnuts with cinnamon maple glaze warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
Notes
– For a thicker glaze, use less milk or cream. For a thinner glaze, add more.
– Store any leftover doughnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
