Description

Indulge in the delectable combination of sweet, tender apples and a crisp, crumbly topping in this homemade Apple Crisp Pie. This classic fall dessert is perfect for cozy gatherings, Thanksgiving, or anytime you crave a comforting, irresistible treat.

Ingredients

– 6 cups peeled, sliced Granny Smith apples

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 cup old-fashioned oats

– 1 cup light brown sugar

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. – Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. – In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/2 cup of the brown sugar and the cinnamon. Spread the apple mixture into a 9-inch pie dish.

3. – In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oats, remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. – Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apple filling.

5. – Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

6. – Allow the pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

– For a deeper apple flavor, use a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples.

– Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.

– Store any leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
