Description

Indulge in the savory, golden-brown goodness of these homemade Amish Onion Fritters. A quick and easy snack or appetizer that the whole family will love!

Ingredients

– 1 large onion, thinly sliced

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

– 1 egg

– 3/4 cup milk

– Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1. – In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.

2. – In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.

3. – Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until a smooth batter forms.

4. – Heat 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

5. – Working in batches, dip the onion slices into the batter, coating them evenly.

6. – Carefully add the battered onions to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

7. – Transfer the fried onion fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

8. – Serve the Amish Onion Fritters warm, garnished with fresh parsley and a dipping sauce of your choice.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of garlic powder or paprika to the batter. The fritters can also be kept warm in a 200°F oven until ready to serve.
